Fall Knee High Naturalists - Week 1 (Wednesday)

Today was a blast! We started our morning with a book about a baby bat who thinks she is a bird (Stellaluna). Ms. Paige even showed us a bat skeleton! Next, we toured the Nature Center, feeling all the different animal furs and bird feathers. Outside, we made tree cookie crafts before exploring the trails. We made lots of great observations while on our walk and really enjoyed stopping to look at the mighty Boardman River. We decided it was too fast and deep for us to put our feet in, so we made our way to Jack’s Creek, where we managed to keep our socks dry while splashing around. There, we found lots of bubbles being made by a mini waterfall. On the way back to the Nature Center, we saw a bunny snacking on some grass, wild grapes, pink and purple New England asters, and maple seeds (samaras). Ms. Paige taught us to throw them in the air and watch them spin down. They look like little helicopters! To finish the day, we played in the mud kitchen on the Nature Playscape with all our new friends.
