Fall Knee High Naturalists - Week 3 (Wednesday)

We had a small, but mighty crew today! We began class by talking about pumpkins and it sounds like most of us still need to visit a pumpkin patch this fall. We listened to a silly story about a pumpkin growing bigger and bigger–so big people could sit in it and use it as a boat! We talked about animals that might like to eat pumpkins (deer, squirrels, maybe a porcupine). Then, we walked around the Nature Center to find these animals. After snack, we worked as a team to put together a North American wildlife puzzle. It was a big puzzle, so it was a challenge, but we did it! We spent the rest of our morning together at the Nature Playscape, which we have not played on together since the spring. It is finally all complete and open for anyone to use, but we had it to ourselves on this rainy day. We pretended to be spiders on the spider web (the sand beneath us was lava!), climbed in the boat, balanced on some logs, and played in the mud kitchen. We took turns turning the water on and building sand castle forts. We ended at the eagle’s nest, where we found seventeen rocks hidden around the structure. We piled them up as our eagle eggs. We also got to hang out with the new Ms. Rachel (not to be confused with the Ms. Rachel we already know!), so it was a special day!
