Hello one and all, welcome back to the best nature program of all! Grab a cup of hot cocoa, a sweet treat and get ready to celebrate a season’s worth of learning and growing!
All of our friends arrived with smiles on their faces and special treats in their bags, ready to celebrate an amazing season full of growing, learning., friendships and fun. Backpacks were eagerly thrown off and snow paints were quickly grabbed, rainbow colored snow began to appear before our eyes! We worked together to create colors like orange, purple and green by taking turns spraying the same spots of snow. Brown leaves began to turn purple and blue while even our trees got a new hue! Snow cakes and cookies were made, bug discovery holes were dug and even mushrooms were uncovered from where they were nice and snug. Our Good Morning song was louder than it has ever been with everyone joining in, excited to get started with our special day full of snowy play.
We were quick to grab our bags and make our way to the pavilion, our snow creatures from last week greeted us as we walked by. Too excited to wait and eat our special treats after snack, we made a group decision to pack all of our snacks and treats on our wagon and head to forest for our picnic party! We all took turns pulling the wagon, helping push it when we got too far off the trail. We waited until we found the perfect spot in the pine forest with stumps nearby to use as tables. We spread out our blanket and made sure everyone had a special spot to eat their sweet treats! We listened to Do You Want to Build A Snowman and songs from Moana to celebrate our special day as birds chirped in the trees overhead. We had fun scrambling over fallen logs and climbing old stumps as we waited for everyone to finish.
Once all of our special treats and snacks were gone, we headed back to the pavilion for snowman decorating and crafts! Lots of pictures were painted and lots of sliding down our little snow hill took place before it was finally time to go sledding. We didn’t need any instructions or reminders this time, we eagerly grabbed our sleds and headed up to the hill, patiently waiting for our turn and helping push others down. Siblings rode together, some friends tried new ways of riding their sleds and everyone had so much fun! Suddenly, snow spiders began to stream down the sledding hill and taking over the play scape—Ms. Aspen even had to help some very silly spiders out of the web! All too soon, it was time for our wintery fun to be done, so we stacked all of sleds, packed away all of our art work and made our way to the award celebration. We were so patient and did such an incredible job lining up and waiting for our names to be called, even when we were so excited to go see our families! We grew and learned so much this season and are so grateful that are families came to help celebrate with us.
Families, we are so grateful for you and your naturalists, braving the weather every week, always ready for the next adventure. Your children have grown so much from the first day of class in September! They have built friendships that stand the test of nature, they’ve created their own community built on kindness, curiosity, a love of nature and fun. They are eager to ask questions about the natural world and even more excited to learn about the world around them! They have learned how to read signs in nature and understand where animals have been, what they eat and where they go to survive throughout the year. They can tell you the season and describe the weather to you and even know how to dress for different types of weather! More than anything else, your naturalists are generous, kind and wonderful humans who have so much respect for each other and the living creatures in nature from bugs and frogs to trees and flowers. It’s been an absolute pleasure to foster the curiosity and wonder in your children over the past ten weeks, we can’t thank you enough! We hope you have a wonderful holiday season and hope to see you all again very soon!
