Frog and Toad Survey (Auditory) - Community Science

  • Grand Traverse Conservation District 1450 Cass Road Traverse City, MI, 49685 United States (map)

Audience: Adults

Description: Join GTCD in our May community science event - an auditory Frog and Toad Survey! Help us inventory the presence of frogs and toads at the Boardman River Nature Center and contribute important data toward amphibian conservation. We welcome naturalist of all experience and comfort levels. Community members will take a guided hike down our trails to listen for frogs and toads calls. We'll submit our observations to the Michigan Herp Atlas. The Michigan Herp Atlas is community driven database that help helps assess changes in populations over time and measure species health. Amphibian conservation is severely limited by a lack of data on local species abundance. Without knowing the status of amphibians populations around the state, we are unable to make informed decisions on how to best preserve these threatened species. If we work together, we can help collect meaningful data for amphibian conservationists. This event is part of May's community science series on amphibian conservation. Community members are invited to join us all month long to celebrate and protect the frogs and toads of Michigan. More information at natureiscalling.org/events
