Conservation WorkBee Volunteer
Position Title: Conservation Workbee Volunteer
Purpose: Workbee volunteers are a vital part of the Grand Traverse Conservation District in supporting the organization’s mission of inspiring exploration, appreciation and conservation of our natural world.
Conservation Workbee events provide opportunities for the general public to assist in habitat and trail improvements projects, thereby providing a safer and more sustainable environment for recreational users to enjoy.
Location: Various parklands managed by the Grand Traverse Conservation District.
Key Responsibilities pending upon Workbee event:
Trail improvement projects may include construction of new trails and/or maintenance of existing trails.
Habitat improvement projects may include erosion mitigation, control of invasive species, and/or planting of native species.
Trash and litter clean-up.
Other duties as assigned.
Responsible To: Reb Ratliff & Tom Vitale, Parkland Stewards
Time Commitment: Depends upon event and personal availability.
Qualifications: Physical capability to assist in the tasks of the work bee event, willingness to work in inclement weather, dependable, desire to provide environmental stewardship, and a friendly demeanor.
Next Steps & Training: Please fill out the application and indicate you are interested in voluteering for “Conservation Workbees” You will then be placed on our email list and will receive emails about all upcoming Native Habitat Projects (majority occur in the spring and fall). We will also place you on our general email list so you will receive info on other volunteer opportunities throughout the year!
Specific training for this position will be provided on-site at each workbee event. In addition, staff will be readily available for questions and assistance.
