Native gardens Volunteer

 

 

Position Title: Native Gardens Volunteer

Purpose: Join GTCD staff, MSU Extension master gardeners, and native plant lovers in all aspects of gardening throughout the growing season and familiarize yourself with the native species we have onsite.

No experience or tools required but volunteers are welcome to bring their own gloves or small tools.

Location: The Native Gardens surrounding the Boardman River Nature Center

Key Responsibilities:

  • Weeding

  • Mulching

  • Planting/Transplanting

  • Watering

Responsible To: Joe Arnold, Nature Center Groundskeeper

Time Commitment: Twice a month on Thursdays from May through October.

  • May 22nd, 9:00 - 11:00am

  • June 12th, 8:30 - 10:00am

  • June 26th, 8:30 - 10:00am

  • July 10th, 8:30 - 10:00am

  • July 24th, 8:30 - 10:00am

  • August 7th, 8:30 10:00 am

  • August 21st, 8:30 - 10:00am

  • September 4th, 9:00 - 11:00am

  • September 18th, 9:00 - 11:00am

  • October 2nd, 9:00 - 11:00am

Qualifications: No experience or tools required but volunteers are welcome to bring their own gloves or small tools.

Next Steps & Training: Please fill out the application and indicate you are interested in volunteering for “Native Gardens.” You will then receive an email about upcoming native garden workbees. We will also place you on our general email list so you will receive info on other volunteer opportunities throughout the year!

Specific training for this position will be provided on-site. In addition, staff will be readily available for questions and assistance.
