ISara’s early career was in the Southwest, where she honed her skills in botany, fisheries, water resources, fire ecology, and restoration work. Her professional path includes significant contributions in both the non-profit and government sectors, notably with The Nature Conservancy and the National Park Service.
In 2021, Sara completed her master’s degree in Conservation Leadership at Colorado State University, focusing on interdisciplinary conservation and collaborative leadership. Her research delved into water resource use conflict and policy within the Colorado River basin. Following her graduation, Sara served as a Program Manager with the National Forest Foundation in the Southern Sierra of California, collaborating with the U.S. Forest Service to enhance forest restoration and wildfire resilience efforts.
Sara is excited to return to the Great Lakes region, a place close to her heart where she spent her summers on Douglas Lake. Outside of her professional endeavors, she enjoys exploring the outdoors with her dog, Bill, and is passionate about learning new skills and hobbies such as sewing, knitting, gardening, and cooking.
