Ranay grew up downstate in Livonia and graduated from the University of Michigan with a major in Accounting and a minor in Finance. After she and her husband married, Ranay moved to Allen Park, where her husband lived. They have now been married 37 years and have three children, Zachary, Caitlin and Nathan, and one grandson, Aiden.
Ranay and her husband have always loved Northern Michigan, and dreamed that one day they’d move here. Her husband is an airline pilot, and eventually got a new job that allowed him to live anywhere. So in 2000, they sold their house, packed up the kids and two dogs, and moved North — they’ve never looked back.
Upon moving North, Ranay started her own business providing accounting and payroll services for small family-owned business. Around 2010, she dissolved her business and started working for larger companies in Traverse City and Kalkaska, but was not happy.
Ranay eventually started working at the Grand Traverse Conservation District, and loves her job now thanks to the wonderful people and because of the meaningful work that GTCD does.
When Ranay is not working, she enjoys snowmobiling, boating, swimming, and attempting to grow a flower garden.
