Born in Okemos, Michigan, Alison was raised in a family that loved good company, good wine, and spending time Up North. Every summer growing up, her family vacationed on one of the many inland lakes Northern Michigan is known for, instilling in Alison a love for the state’s natural beauty and outdoor recreation.
Alison has a passion for both the arts and sciences. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology, with a minor in Dance, from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. After graduation, she returned to her hometown to work at her family’s small businesses. When the opportunity arose to move to Traverse City, she and her husband took it. Joining the GTCD has allowed Alison to blend her biology background with her passion for environmental conservation. She is eager to make a positive impact in the Grand Traverse area community. In her free time, Alison enjoys hiking, road tripping to national parks, and starting crafts that she may or may not finish.
