Welcome to the State Tree of Michigan! White pine (Pinus strobus) is moderately shade tolerant and will grow in a variety of sites, though it prefers moist, sandy loam soils. The entire tree is rich in vitamins A and C and can provide emergency food. Squirrels. chipmunks, birds and mice feed on the seeds and needles and some mammals eat the bark of White Pine trees.

Help Control Invasives!
White pine is a great replacement for invasive Scotch pine, which spreads quickly and crowds out other tree species while not supporting wildlife.
