Protecting Our Lakes & Shorelands: A three-part VIRTUAL education and information series for those living on or recreating in our local lakes and waterways. Developed by: Friends of Spider Lake and Rennie Lake, Michigan. Hosted by: Grand Traverse Conservation District
Join us for a deep dive into shoreline invasive plant control (including native replacement suggestions). We will discuss negative impacts of invasives on our environment and shoreline enjoyment and delve into how best to control small, medium, and large populations of each, complete with videos of field work and live discussion and an emphasis on what shoreline landowners can do to help. Focus species will include purple loosestrife, yellow flag iris, and phragmites, though additional species (including but not limited to creeping Jenny/moneywort, buckthorns, flowering rush, and lesser celandine) will also be covered.
