Description: Join the Grand Traverse Conservation District for our community science and speaker series “Caterpillars Count!” featuring a different topic each week. This week, District Forester Ellie Johnson will be discussing bugs and the trees.

Caterpillars Count! is a national community science project measuring the seasonal variation and abundance of arthropods like caterpillars, beetles, and spiders found on the foliage of trees and shrubs. Arthropods play an important role in our ecosystem, as key components in the food web and as critical pollinators for our food system. Join us on select Wednesdays from 12-2 pm to learn more about Michigan’s interesting insects and participate in data collection to support their conservation!
