Inspiring exploration, appreciation, and conservation of our natural world.

July 30th, Let the Games Begin!

Hello Grown-ups!

We kicked off the Nature Olympics week with a wonderful opening ceremony. Each camper created their own flag to represent their country and then together as a group we created our own Olympic torch to carry for the remainder of the week!  Today we had an excellent hike where we learned all about trees and other plants. We were most excited about learning to tell white pine trees from red pine trees. We hiked to Meadows Pavilion where the games officially started. There was the pine cone shot-put and the javelin (stick) throw. All contenders represented their countries well. We found some cool animal tracks, a huge ant hill and an awesome caterpillar!

Tomorrow is “The WILD Animals Compete!” We’re going to learn all about animals including survival, habitat, and tracks. We’ve got a really fun craft, a game and of course we’ll go for a hike again!

All contenders please remember to apply sunscreen and bug spray before camp and to dress for the weather!

See you tomorrow!
