Dust off your hiking shoes, grab your gear and get ready for a summer of adventure! Young people ages 10 – 14 will be connected with experts in their field and embark on a variety of fun and educational adventures on the Natural Education Reserve. All programs are designed to encourage curiosity of the natural world, allow exploration of natural areas, and promote a sense of stewardship in the next generation.
Trailblazers: Flies and Ties (NEW)
When: Wednesday, July 16, 1pm to 4pm
Description: Looking for an engaging new way to get on the water? Look no further! Trout Unlimited joins us for this very special session! We will be learning the art and skill of fly fishing from the professionals themselves! Students can expect to be out practicing in Sabin Pond by the end of class. All materials and equipment provided.
Trailblazers: Geocaching at Brown Bridge Quiet Area
When: Wednesday, July 30, 1pm to 4pm
Description: In this Trailblazer session, we’ll learn the art of using a Global Positioning System (GPS), find a few geocaches, and even hide one of our own!
Trailblazers: Survival Skills
When: Wednesday, August 13, 1pm to 4pm
Description: Think you have what it takes to survive? Join us as a local expert teaches us how to make fire, create shelters, identify a few edible plants, and find water! This favorite is sure to fill so register early!
Trailblazers: Amazing Eco Race
When: Wednesday, August 27, 1pm to 4pm
Description: Our 2nd annual team race throughout the Nature Education Reserve. Participants will be split into two teams and navigate through a course of various team and nature challenges including canoeing, mazes, I-Spy, and more!
