May 7th-Fancy Fliers

Hi Grown-ups!

Today we learned about dragonflies and butterflies. Since dragonflies begin their lives in the water, we decided to search for lots of water “bugs” at Jack’s Creek. We found stoneflies,¬†mayflies, scuds, and some of us even got to see pretty large steelhead headed up stream. Thanks to the good eyes of our parents.

Next week, we will be outside the entire time if weather allows so bring your rain gear or sunscreen. We will be studying (and hopefully catching) grasshoppers and crickets! Can you find grasshoppers near your house yet? Crickets? Come share with us and make your own bug catcher to take home.

Thanks and see you next Tuesday.
