Greetings! Today was full of fun, adventure and SAND! We took a trip to the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes where we were guided around by Laura Ann from the Leelanau Outdoor Center. We started in the Visitor’s Center with a fun scavenger hunt about the history of the dunes, and then we learned some dance moves to remember four of the different zones on the dunes (beach, active dunes, scrubs, pine & oak). Then began the adventure on the Sleeping Bear Point Trail where we hiked up the sand, ate lunch, played around, and got to go swimming in Lake Michigan!
We all had a fantastic time and learned a lot about the Sleeping Bear Dunes and about how we can help conserve such a beautiful area. Thanks for a fantastic day campers!!
Although we can hardly believe it, tomorrow is our last day of camp. We will be taking a trip to Jack’s Creek to look for some macro invertebrates, so please bring or wear WATER SHOES! We will be having a closing ceremony that parents are invited to attend starting around 2:45 tomorrow afternoon. Looking forward to seeing you there! Can’t wait for tomorrow campers, we have a fun day full of activities about how WE can help protect our wild places.
