Hey campers and parents! We can’t believe that today was our last day of camp, but we had such a great past week with all of you! Yesterday we learned all about watersheds and went down to Jack’s Creek to check the health of the watershed in our backyard! We did macro-dipping, found a bunch of macro-invertebrates, and tested the pH of the water. Then we played drip-drip-drop and other water games and finally we made our own ice cream, yum!
Then came the overnight fun! We set up tents, made our foil dinners in the oven, went geo-caching, and started a campfire. Lots of us performed fun skits and musical numbers, and of course we had s’mores!! Then the Grand Traverse Astronomical Society joined us to look at the moon and Saturn through some huge telescopes they brought for us to use. We ended the night with a fun book about animal backsides (Whose Butt?)!
This morning we woke to a pancake breakfast, we broke down camp and went geo-caching again!! Thank you parents for coming to our ceremony and thank you campers for a wonderful overnight and a fantastic week. You are all officially Great Lakes Guardians, hurrah!
