Mr. Treenen “Tree” Sturman joined the Grand Traverse Conservation District in November 2011. Tree, a native of New York State, comes to the District with extensive experience leading community-serving not-for-profit institutions in Alpena, Michigan, Quechee, Vermont and Chicago, Illinois. He holds a BA in Human Ecology, an MS in Public Horticulture Administration and professional certificates in facilitation, museum studies, and institutional leadership.
Tree spends his free time rock hounding, botanizing and otherwise exploring the wetlands, woodlands and beaches of Michigan with his wife Elaine.
