Pine, White – 12-18″ (3-0)
White pine (Pinus strobus) is the state tree of Michigan. It is moderately shade tolerant and will grow in a variety of sites, though it prefers moist, sandy loam soils. The entire tree is rich in Vitamins A and C and can provide emergency food. Squirrels. chipmunks, birds and mice feed on the seeds and needles and some mammals eat the bark of white pine trees.
