Lizzy Freed


Originally from the heart of Leelanau County, Suttons Bay, Lizzy joins the District as the MAEAP technician that will serve Leelanau and Benzie counties.

She is excited to be back in northern Michigan after spending the past two years in Senegal, West Africa, where she worked as a Sustainable Agriculture Extension Agent with the Peace Corps. Prior to this, she lived in Chile and Guatemala, exploring some of the most beautiful places in Latin America.

Lizzy received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in Spanish and International Studies, concentrating on Global Environment and Health. She is passionate about food systems, agriculture, and the environment. In her spare time, she can be found playing euchre, reading, or wandering around Leelanau County with her dog.
