Grand Traverse Stewardship Initiative

The Grand Traverse Stewardship Initiative (GTSI) is in its seventh year of providing leadership and resources to support place-based, community-focused learning experiences for students, teachers, and local community partners in the Grand Traverse region. This year we are supporting the efforts of seven GTSI schools, consisting of 26 teachers and their students, who are dedicated to learning about and promoting freshwater stewardship. Read our story.

You could be a part of GTSI!  Since 2010, through GTSI:

  • 89 teachers have worked on place-based projects with students
  • 113 community partners actively participated with GTSI projects
  • 5,000 students worked on place-based  project
