This program was eliminated for fiscal year 2008 when Governor Granholm vetoed the Forestry Assistance Program line item in the State’s budget.
It is unclear whether or not this program will be funded by the State in the future. It is our hope that within a few years we will secure funding for the program from other sources. When in place, the District Forester offers direct assistance to landowners regarding timber management and harvest, disease & pest diagnostics, invasive species management, property management plans and community workshops. We continue to provide limited services in many of these areas and are eager to help landowners obtain the resources and information they need to manage their rural and residential woodlots.
