Today was chock full of learning all about the importance of food and farming! We got a wonderful visit from bee-keeper James from Hilbert’s Honeybees, Inc. who taught us about the process of making honey. He brought in live bees in a special box and showed us exactly how a bee hive functions. We even got to sample honey comb and liquid honey. Yum! Then we got on our hiking shoes and went to visit a real farm right down the road! Jack Robbins showed us around Robbin’s Farm where he grows beets, asparagus, tomatoes, dill, raspberries and more. It was awesome to see a real farm functioning in front of our eyes and see exactly how the food we eat and love grows right in the ground. After hiking back to camp, we got to use fruits, vegetables and “honeycombs” to make prints on paper to remember all of the awesome things we learned today.
Another adventure awaits us tomorrow, so please arrive WEARING your swimming suit and don’t forget a towel!! We’re looking forward to it, see you all tomorrow!
