We are excited to announce that the Boardman River Nature Center will be OPEN on Saturday, December 12, from 10-4p! We will be hosting a children and family program in the morning, along with an afternoon conservation-focused program:
Discovering Owls – A family-friendly event for children ages 3-8 from 10:00-11:00am. Get ready to discover what feathered friends fly above the trees at night as we focus on owls. Learn all about the owls we see around the Nature Center, including their habitat, diet and characteristics. We will have story time followed by a craft and a hike around the nature center to discover an owl’s perfect home. Cost for the program is $3/child. Register today!
Birds and Boughs – Did you know that not all birds migrate south for the winter? For Northern Michigan’s year-long residents, adaptation is essential for surviving the winter elements. Join us at the Boardman River Nature Center at 1:00pm for “Birds and Boughs,” a guided hike through the Natural Education Reserve to learn about how our feathered friends adapt to winter life. Bring your binoculars for a better look! Cost for this program is FREE.
