February 1 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pmFREE
Learn about one of the world’s most popular nut-bearing tree and its unique qualities for humans and wildlife. Chestnuts can produce edible nuts in seven years, which may make it a good tree to plant with beech bark disease and oak wilt. This workshop will include info. about planting blight resistance stock and the availability of hypo viruses that may be a practical disease management option for controlling chestnut blight. Discussion about choices in best planting stock for your site, site selection for chestnut production, cultural practices to maintain healthy plants, and harvesting/storage of nuts will make this a very comprehensive workshop led by two of the most knowledgeable local chestnut experts.
